Linux users

The information on the system’s users is included in the following files –

/etc/passwd

/etc/shadow

/etc/group

/etc/gshadow

Commands:

chsh : change the user login shell

chfn : change the user information present in the /etc/passwd comment file

passwd  : change a user’s password.

su : a kind of identity change. It is used by both users and by the root to change the current user.
