Trouble Debugging in Eclipse? “Source Not found”

I found the solution to this problem finally…must admit that its one of those that appear “silly”  after you know what you missed!

So instead of beating about the bush, here’s what you do to hit the nail on the head –

Problem:

com.mymainclass at localhost:4773
Thread [main] (Suspended (exception ClassNotFoundException))
ClassLoader.findBootstrapClass(String) line: not available [native method]
Launcher$ExtClassLoader(ClassLoader).findBootstrapClass0(String) line: 891
Launcher$ExtClassLoader(ClassLoader).loadClass(String, boolean) line: 301
Launcher$AppClassLoader(ClassLoader).loadClass(String, boolean) line: 299
Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(String, boolean) line: 268
Launcher$AppClassLoader(ClassLoader).loadClass(String) line: 251
Launcher$AppClassLoader(ClassLoader).loadClassInternal(String) line: 319

Solution:
"I had the exact same problem when I first installed eclipse.
Since I had specified the JRE Path under
"Window->Preferences->Java->Installed JREs",
Eclipse couldnt locate the JDK.
Install JDK.
Go to Window->Preferences->Java->Installed JRE.
Click on "Add" Button.
Click on the "Browse" button Next to the "JRE Home Directory"
and specify the JDK Home.
Add JDK's path as JRE Home. In my case it was D:\Java\jdk1.5.0_02

There you go! Happy debugging!!!

  1. It does not work

    • Also look at using step filters.

      Go to windows > preferences. Under that go to java > debug > step filters. Use java.* and java.lang.ClassLoader.*. For me, I’m usually looking to debug code I wrote, rather that 3rd party libraries.

  2. Muchisimas gracias… me ayuda basntante esta solucion ya que pocas personas y en pocos lugares se halla…….
